Julia Stiles’ husband Preston Cook is cheering her on while she competes alongside pro Ezra Sosa on season 35 of Dancing With the Stars.
The 10 Things I Hate About You star met Cook in 2014 on the set of her thriller Blackway, and they soon began dating. Cook proposed one year later, and by 2017 they were married with their first baby, Strummer, on the way. They welcomed their second son, Arlo, in 2022, and completed the family with a third child in 2023.
While Cook is relatively private and stays off social media, Stiles shares glimpses of her life with her camera assistant husband by bringing him to red carpet events and paying tribute to him on Instagram.
“Taking a breath to wish my main man, my lurve, a Happy Anniversary,” the actress wrote on Instagram in September 2026 in celebration of their ninth wedding anniversary. “Thank you for holding down the fort while I live my dance dream.”

Cook has worked in Hollywood for decades, first as an actor on shows like The L Word and Smallville and later as a camera assistant on projects like War for the Planet of the Apes and Deadpool.
He met Stiles in 2014 on the set of Blackway, and they quickly hit it off. When asked about the best kiss of her life in July 2015, Stiles made it clear that their bond was special.
“It might have happened this morning,” she told The Guardian. “I am dating a camera assistant I met at work called Preston.”
They have worked on multiple films and TV shows together

Not long after meeting on the set of Blackway, Cook and Stiles worked together again on the fifth installment of Matt Damon’s Bourne franchise in 2016. Stiles reprised her role as Nicky Parsons in the film, while Cook served as an assistant cameraman.
That same year, the pair worked on their first TV show together, Riviera, which was filmed in the south of France.
“We were so lucky, because you often don’t get to [work together], and if you’re away from each other it can be hard on your relationship,” Stiles explained to Marie Claire UK in June 2017.

“[When I got the part], I panicked and thought, ‘Oh my god, I’m going to be away for seven months.’ But they hired him because he has a great résumé, and they needed someone bilingual,” she said. “It turned into the most romantic experience ever.”
They got engaged on Christmas Eve in 2015

Stiles and Cook took the next step in their relationship in December 2025 when he proposed on Christmas Eve during a trip to Colombia. The actress later told PEOPLE in August 2016 that the vacation was nothing short of “amazing.”
“All around, it was a really wonderful trip. We stayed on an island that was really beautiful and there was a lot of great snorkeling,” she said.
Stiles also added that she was taking wedding planning “really slow.”

Stiles surprised fans twofold in September 2017 when she shared the news that she and Cook had gotten married and were expecting.
“Who doesn’t love a shotgun wedding?” she joked on Instagram alongside a photo of her baby bump and their wedding rings.
Her reps confirmed to PEOPLE at the time that the couple “got married Labor Day weekend with two friends on the beach in Seattle.”

One month after their nuptials, Stiles and Cook became parents for the first time when they welcomed their son, Strummer. Another son, Arlo, was born five years later, and they completed their family with the birth of a third child in 2023.
Though the couple’s kids are being raised away from the spotlight, Stiles did share that they are cheering her on from afar while she competes on DWTS.
“They see me dance every day and every night in my kitchen and in the living room,” she told E! News in September 2026. “They’re like, ‘Oh there goes Mommy again.’ ”
“Sometimes I pick them up and I’m actually practicing the dance holding them,” she added. “And my husband will just stand there and I kind of twirl around him ... It’s pretty special.”
