Taylor Swift addressed her friendship with Jack Antonoff amid feud rumors

In a Tuesday, April 28 interview with the New York Times, the pop megastar also said the pair have enjoyed doing something called a "rant bridge" in their songs

Swift and Antonoff met in 2012 and have been close friends and collaborators

Taylor Swift has addressed where her relationship with Jack Antonoff stands.

The 14-time Grammy winner spoke to the New York Times Magazine about making music with the Bleachers musician. Her comments come after the producer was not featured on her most recent album The Life of a Showgirl, which sparked rumors of a feud.

“Jack Antonoff is a collaborator of mine and one of my best friends,” Swift, 36, told the publication.

The "Fortnight" hitmaker then spoke about one of their songwriting tactics.

“We established this thing that we love to do, and we call it the rant bridge," said Swift. “It's basically like stream of consciousness, endless pouring-out of emotion, intrusive thoughts, blended with metaphor, with discussion, with shouting."

She then spoke about the sentiment the duo aims for in a "rant bridge."

“You want this rant bridge to feel the most intense of what that feeling is that you're trying to establish over the course of the song, and you want it to be kind of a crescendo," said Swift.

The "Cruel Summer" performer then gave examples of "rant bridges," referring to her 2014 song “Out of the Woods,” 2019's “Cruel Summer” and 2023's “Is It Over Now?"

Swift and Antonoff initially met in 2012 and became close friends and collaborators. They first teamed up for the former's 2013 track “Sweeter Than Fiction.”

Over the years, Antonoff has worked on Swift's Grammy-winning albums 1989 and Folklore, as well as Reputation, Lover, Midnights, The Tortured Poets Department and her re-recorded versions of Fearless and Red.

They have both publicly praised one another, as well.

When Swift took home song of the year for her Midnights song "Anti-Hero" at the MTV VMAs, she shared her love for Antonoff, calling him "one of my best friends in the world."

"He's so talented it's incomprehensible," she said. "And I'm so lucky I've been making music with him since we worked on an album called 1989. We'll continue working together til' 2089."

In April 2024, the Bleachers musician praised Swift's 11th studio album The Tortured Poets Department, which he co-wrote and co-produced.

"love this album more than i can say .... love you all very much ... more later very overwhelmed ... love you taylor," he posted on X at the time.
