Meghan Markle has given an unexpected endorsement to a New Zealand poet. The Duchess of Sussex shared a video to her Instagram Stories on Monday, revealing her Jessica Urlichs's latest collection, The Bloom Because of You.

In the clip, Meghan appears to be at home in Montecito, flipping through the pages of the book and whispering that it was “so good.” Several pages had been folded down, including one featuring a poem called “Vows I Didn't Write.” Meghan later shared in a comment on Urlichs’s Instagram page that a friend had introduced her to the book: “My mom friend, Christina, shared it with me. My current bedside book. From one mama to another - thank you x”

Urlichs, who is based in New Zealand, appears to have been overjoyed by the recognition.

“When [Meghan] the Duchess of Sussex shares your book, you go into shock, you share, and you celebrate,” she wrote in an Instagram caption alongside a video of herself covering her mouth. “I’m so honoured, beyond words. I love how this book is touching so many mums around the world! What a huge moment.”

Meghan has previously shared her love of reading and book recommendations in interviews, back in her blogging days on The Tig, and on her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. In 2021, she published a children's book,The Bench, which she described in a video at the time as “as a poem for my husband and our son Archie.”
