LIV Golf star refuses to hide PGA Tour ambition with bold Jon Rahm assertion

One-time PGA Tour winner Danny Lee would attempt to carve his way back to the PGA Tour if LIV Golf faces a shutdown.
LIV Golf lost funding in the middle of the 2026 season when the PIF announced they were backing out, but CEO Scott O’Neil refused to give up, securing an unknown funding source for the 2027 season, with players set to receive a piece of equity in the company.
But doubts remain ans rumors are swirling that two-time major winner Jon Rahm may be leaving for the PGA Tour after the season comes to an end this week at LIV Golf Indianapolis. Lee is also prepared to find a way back to the American circuit.
“I still love the game of golf,” Lee told Johnston Garrett at LIV Golf Indianapolis. “I'll try to play somewhere else and find my way back into the PGA Tour if I can. But the long-term goal.”

36-year-old Lee isn’t giving up any time soon after joining LIV Golf in 2023.
“I still love golf, so I need someplace to play and compete with the buddies I know and the great golfers I know,” said Lee. “And I think I still have a couple of good rounds in me, so just the competition.”

Lee last won on the PGA Tour at the 2015 Greenbrier Classic, and he’s hoping only the best for Rahm if he were to make a departure.

“That’s not 100% proven yet, so I don't think about it,” said Lee, referring to Rahm leaving.
“It's Jon and Jon Rahm's team's job to do whatever he's best for his future and his career. And he's such an amazing golfer. So you know, wherever he goes, he's going to do great, I know that. He'll probably jump back in the top five in the world, probably in less than a year, probably because of his talent and what he brings. He's so good.”

When questioned by reporters, Rahm remained vague about his future and declined to elaborate on his experiences since joining the circuit.
Like Luis Masaveu, Rahm and Lee are focused on what they can control during the game instead of the outside noise.
“It doesn't matter where you play,” said Lee. “As long as you play some good golf, it takes care of a lot of good stuff. And you know, we just love to compete here.”
