The next season of The White Lotus is checking into the French Riviera, and this time the show’s glossy, slow-burn dysfunction will unfold in Saint-Tropez. Season four of the HBO anthology is set to film in and around the Château de la Messardière, a 19th-century palace-turned-luxury hotel that sits just above the Mediterranean, according to multiple industry reports.
Created by Mike White, the series will begin filming in late spring and continue through early fall, taking advantage of peak Riviera season. The château will serve as a central location, though it won’t stand in alone. As with past installments, White is expected to combine several real-world properties to construct the fictional White Lotus resort, with additional filming planned elsewhere along the Côte d’Azur and in Paris.

The Château de la Messardière is part of the Airelles Collection, a portfolio of ultra-high-end hotels known for restoring historic European properties and turning them into modern luxury destinations. Spread across more than 30 acres of manicured grounds in the hills of St. Tropez, and surrounded by the lush Ramatuelle vineyards, the hotel offers everything from a spa and multiple restaurants to private beach access via chauffeured transfer. At the height of summer, suites can cost several thousand dollars a night.
There’s also an interesting behind-the-scenes connection. Airelles is owned by Stéphane Courbit, the founder and chairman of Banijay Group. Banijay happens to be the company behind Survivor, the long-running reality series that helped launch White’s career as a contestant in 2018—and which he’s set to return to for its landmark 50th season.
As usual, plot details for season four are being kept closely guarded. HBO has confirmed only that the series will once again follow a group of hotel guests and employees over the course of a single week. Insiders have suggested that the Cannes Film Festival—which takes place during part of the filming window—could factor into the story.

Casting is underway, with a notable number of French actors auditioning alongside international talent. The first confirmed newcomers include Alexander Ludwig and AJ Michalka. Whether any familiar faces will return remains unclear; so far, only a handful of characters have appeared across multiple seasons.
After Hawaii, Sicily and Thailand, the move to Saint-Tropez feels like a logical escalation. The Riviera’s blend of old money, celebrity mythology and hyper-visible luxury offers fertile ground for White’s sharp observations.
