One of Disney's iconic roller coasters is closing its doors.

On Sunday, March 1, guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida were seen lining up around the block for one last chance to ride the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, which is set to shut down after today so that it can be transformed into the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets.

One video shared on TikTok on Sunday captured a cast member walking through the park and attempting to locate the beginning of the line, as seemingly hundreds of fans packed in to ride the roller coaster on its last day of operation with Aerosmith as its stars.

The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith opened in 1999. The ride features a 125-speaker, 14-subwoofer, 32,000-watt audio system that plays Aerosmith hits, including “Walk This Way,” “Back in the Saddle" and even “Love in an Elevator” rewritten as “Love in a Roller Coaster.”

Back in December, Entertainment Weekly reported that the ride’s pre-show entertainment, which heavily featured Aerosmith, was permanently scrapped from the attraction. The video, which was shown in a room before the coaster’s loading area, was seemingly boarded up and covered overnight.

In June 2025, park officials announced that Jim Henson’s beloved Muppets characters would be replacing Aerosmith as the ride's hosts, following the closure of Jim Henson's Muppet*Vision 3D. The attraction had its final curtain close on June 7 after 34 years in the park.

When the new Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster reopens sometime this summer, guests will once again be welcomed into a recording studio, this time occupied by members of the Electric Mayhem band, penguins working as audio engineers and Scooter, who’s rushing to get the band onstage in front of fans.

Aerosmith rocker Tom Hamilton previously stopped by Walt Disney World in Florida to ride the indoor roller coaster “one last time before it takes its final lap.”

“What a day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, with my new band, @closeenemiesofficial,” the “Sweet Emotion” co-writer, 74, captioned his Jan. 28 Instagram post. “It’s been an absolute honor to share this ride with our fans for so many years.”

In the post, Hamilton shared a series of pictures taken throughout his visit to the park. In one image, he looked at a signed portrait of Aerosmith posing outside Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster’s iconic red guitar on the building’s exterior facade. Another photo showed the musician riding the coaster alongside members of his band, Close Enemies.

"Huge thanks to the amazing cast members for the warmth, hospitality and respect for what this moment means. Thanks for letting us all #RideThisWay," Hamilton added.
