Glenn Close is keeping her fans on her health.
In a social media post on Tuesday, Oct. 20, the Tony Award-winning actress, 79, shared why some may have recently seen her using a cane, and reassured her supporters that there was nothing to worry about.
“I wanted to just hop on and thank you for all of your love, and to explain why I have a cane,” she said after greeting viewers in the selfie Instagram video. “I have a cane because I have had a complete hip replacement.”
Close said she underwent the procedure after she “found out that my left hip was in really bad shape.”
“My whole thing right now is to keep myself in running order so that I can really leap into whatever challenges come my way,” the Fatal Attraction star continued.
She added that she hopes the cane is temporary, and said that she’ll be in London for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping premiere next week before heading back to New York for the season 2 premiere of All’s Fair.
“So I hope to be fully present there, and maybe not running around going up mountains, but at least my old self,” the 101 Dalmatians actress said. “So, love to everyone. Don’t worry. I’m feeling great. I have my wonderful, wonderful family around me, and I look forward to all the adventures coming, so love to everyone.”

“Hi everyone, I’m home,” she said in an Aug. 25 Instagram video.
“I’m home, calming down. Wearing my mama’s shirt, letting the wind blow through my white hair,” Close added. “Watching the sun go down. I feel blessed. Hi to you all. Bye.”
The Hillbilly Elegy actress noted in her caption that her beloved Havanese dog Pip was also with her.

The eight-time nominee previously told Pete Davidson for Variety‘s Actors on Actors in 2021 that she thought “it might be cool to never get” an Oscar statuette.
