Georgia Tech and Emory University had already been working with AI, but now the two Georgia colleges are going all-in on the technology.

About $600 million from Emory and more than $575 million from Georgia Tech are being invested in artificial intelligence to "[strengthen] Atlanta's competitiveness for new business growth, skilled workers, investment and federal research funding," according to an Oct. 8 news release from Tech.

Georgia Tech's investments will focus on advanced computing, AI discovery, and workforce development. Emory's will focus on recruitment, healthcare innovation, and technological applications in medicine, business, law, the humanities, and ethics.

Last week, Tech launched its new Nexus AI supercomputer. This is in addition to the advanced computing infrastructure in Tech Square providing resources for AI applications by students, faculty, and researchers.
