Natalie Harp, Donald Trump's loyal aide, has addressed her unusual "human printer" nickname in a series of letters to the president - while one influential correspondent has suggested she deserves another moniker.

In some of her correspondence, Harp references the ironic nickname allegedly given to her by fellow Trump staffers. She earned the moniker due to her habit of printing out pro-Trump news stories for the president, who reportedly prefers hard copies over reading from digital screens.

Until recently, the 35-year-old Harp, who joined Trump's team in 2024, remained largely unknown outside Trump's inner circle. However, in recent weeks she has emerged as one of Washington's most discussed personalities. Washington insiders have pointed out that Harp appears to have modelled her personal style on Trump's beloved daughter Ivanka.

Last week it was revealed that during a security operation at Ankara airport, where Trump was secretly transported off Air Force One in a catering truck to protect him from would-be assassins, Harp was also transferred to Trump's plane - while Marco Rubio and several other high-level cabinet officials, along with the entire White House press corps, remained behind as decoys.

The special assistant, who earns $150,000 annually and works at a desk directly outside the Oval Office, is commonly referred to as Trump's "gatekeeper," according to the Daily Beast. New York Times White House correspondent Maggie Haberman took it a step further, telling CNN's Wolf Blitzer that Harp has become Trump's "binky, or comfort blanket."

Harp seems to have little to no personal life outside of her work, dedicating herself entirely to serving Trump.

In a recently-leaked letter to the president, she wrote: "You are all that matters to me," and "I don't want to ever let you down."

The correspondence also revealed Harp's feelings about being called 'the human printer'. She wrote: "I don't have to be 'human printer'. I could take time to enjoy good conversation, and still get all my work done at the end of the day."

She added: "In fact, I even had time to take long morning and evening walks to enjoy each Sunrise and Sunset (though I did forget to eat and sleep!)"

Concerns have also been raised regarding Harp's security clearance. MS Now reported that Harp repeatedly refused to undergo standard security vetting over the span of a year.

Sources indicated that her reasons for declining to complete the process remain unclear.

Former White House staffer Norm Eisen commented to The Guardian: "It is shocking that an aide who has potential exposure to the nation's most sensitive secrets reportedly went without a security clearance for so long. Treating access to confidences as a casual job perk is an outrageous way to handle our national security."

In response, outgoing White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt issued a statement saying: "Natalie Harp has a security clearance like everyone else, and she is a loyal and hardworking member of President Trump's team."

Trump himself has floated Harp as a potential successor to Leavitt. She claims to have had no prior interest in politics until she stumbled upon one of his speeches while recuperating from cancer in 2016.

"When I was sick, I started watching the Republican debates. He was my first exposure to politics and I loved it," she said.

Yet her brother Preston Harp told CNN that her fascination with political figures ran much deeper, revealing she had penned fan letters to George W. Bush during the 2003 Iraq War.

"Basically, I'd say since she was, like, 16, she's had an obsession - gosh, how do I explain this? - she's written letters to other presidents, let me put it that way. So her dream came true finally," he said.
