Don Diamont is looking back on his romance with Gloria Loring.

The former couple met on the set of Days of Our Lives when Loring was already a mother to two sons, Brennan and Robin Thicke.

Diamont is now married to Cindy Ambuehl.

Don Diamont is opening up about a meaningful relationship from his past.

Years before Diamont rose to fame as Brad Carlton on The Young and the Restless, then Bill Spencer Jr. onThe Bold and the Beautiful, the soap opera star got his start onDays of Our Lives in 1984. His tenure on the show happened to coincide with that of Gloria Loring, the singer known for her “Friends and Lovers” duet with Carl Anderson and for lending her voice to the Facts of Life theme song.

After meeting on the set of the soap, the actors struck up a romance despite their 16-year age gap. At the time, Loring was mother to two young sons, Brennan and Robin Thicke, whom she shared with ex-husband Alan Thicke.

Looking back on it, Diamont — who was in his early 20s at the time — had only good things to say about their three-year relationship.

“I met Gloria Loring [on Days of Our Lives], and Gloria and I got involved,” the actor shared during a recent episode of the Soapy podcast. “That was actually a really positive, wonderful thing to come out of it.”

Diamont said he was especially proud of the relationship that he built with her sons, noting that while he was only “22 or 23” when the relationship began, stepping into the family dynamic felt very natural because of his own family background.

“I had a really good dad,” Diamont explained.

The actor went on to emphasize that while the relationship happened to coincide with Loring’s ex, Alan, having a career surge amidst the success ofGrowing Pains, he didn’t find the situation “uncomfortable.” He added that he was “there for them” and happy to be a “positive male role model” in Robin and Brennan’s lives.

That said, Diamont was surprised to learn how much of an impression he made on the young boys. The actor revealed that he got a call from a friend after Robin appeared on The Howard Stern Show as an adult and spoke fondly about him. A few weeks later, the duo unexpectedly reunited at Nobu in Malibu, Calif., where Diamont was having dinner with his wife and children.

Diamont said he approached Robin and was immediately embraced.

“Before I could even get it out, he’s like, ‘Donald!’ And he throws his arms around me, and we just caught up,” Diamont recalled.
