Former Disney Channel star Christy Carlson Romano just shared a positive update amid her cancer scare.

In an Instagram video posted on Feb. 17, the Even Stevens and Kim Possible star revealed she and her husband underwent cancer screenings—only to come back with different results.

“I got the results back a little bit before filming down in Florida,” Romano said at the time. “My husband’s came back completely negative. Mine did not come back negative. So basically, what that means is that I may have stageable cancer. Next steps are to get a PET scan and fighting with companies to get that covered.”

In a Substack post shared on Monday, Mar. 2, Romano revealed the test she had was a circulating tumor cell blood test, or a type of liquid biopsy that detects cancer cells traveling in the bloodstream. Romano's test found abnormal cells in her blood, meaning she could have a "stageable cancer of any kind, anywhere."

Fortunately, a PET scan showed no evidence of cancer in Romano’s body. Still, her doctor recommended continuing with what she described as a “protocol,” which includes supplements, eight weeks of immune-boosting treatments, and a five-day fast intended to "starve" any circulating tumor cells. She plans to undergo additional testing in June.

In her February video, Romano explained that cancer has affected both of her parents, with her dad ultimately losing his battle.

"I’m glad I did the test. I’m glad I got checked. I’m glad I am meeting with an oncologist next week for more information," she wrote on Substack. "Early detection is the whole point of testing before your life gets derailed and your options are vastly different. I’ve walked alongside and seen one parent live and one parent die from cancer."
