Holly Marie Combs and Brian Krause say fans often mistake their real-life friendship for a romantic relationship

The actors joked about not correcting fans' assumptions when spotted together, saying they "just go with it"

Krause earlier reflected on the show's final season, sharing disappointment over reduced screen time as the series ended

Twenty years after the Charmed finale, fans still think Holly Marie Combs and Brian Krause are dating in real life.

The series — about three San Francisco-based sisters who discover they are witches — aired for eight seasons, and starred Combs, Alyssa Milano, and the late Shannen Doherty, who was replaced by Rose McGowan at the end of the third season in 2001.

The show aired its finale on May 21, 2006.

Krause played Leo, a prominent role as a love interest to Combs' character Piper, for the majority of the series.

In an interview on Australia's The Morning Show, as surfaced by Entertainment Weekly, the actors shared that when they hang out now, some fans think they're "an item."

"I think we freak people out sometimes," Combs, 52, said in the interview. "We were having breakfast in the hotel the other day, and I was like, 'Do you think people think we just do this randomly?' "

Krause, 57, added: "Some people think we're an item, a thing," to which Combs replied, "We don't want to burst the bubble, so we just go with it."

Despite fans' assumptions about the nature of their relationship, Combs has been married to Mike Ryan since 2019.

Earlier this year, Krause reflected on the show's final season in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE.

"The last season, I kind of just did half the season. It was a bummer. I had been promised all episodes, and then they changed that last minute. And it was a bit of a bummer because I knew the show was coming to an end," Krause said ahead of the series' anniversary on May 21.

"But I knew all along the show was never about Leo. It was about the charmed ones."
