Amazon is discussing a new version of the NBC series *The Apprentice*, which was hosted by now-President Donald Trump between 2004 and 2015, according to the* **Wall Street Journal*.

"Since our acquisition of MGM, we have had preliminary internal discussions about what's next for *The Apprentice* as a property," an Amazon spokesman told the newspaper, noting that the project is not certain. Trump and his family have not been consulted yet.

But reportedly Donald Trump Jr. is being considered to lead the reboot.

The series depicted contestants competing to work with the Trump organization. Arnold Schwarzenegger took over as host for the final season.

*The Hollywood Reporter*'s staff viewed Trump's financial disclosures, which showed that the Mark Burnett-created show continues to generate "six figures of annual income for him, with royalties of between $100,000 and $1,000,000 in 2024." The outlet noted that the Trump family co-owns the property.

The show was a hit when it aired, with audiences — averaging 20 million viewers per week, per *The Wrap* — and critics alike. It was nominated for eight Emmy Awards, including in the category of Outstanding Reality-Competition Program early in its run.

Trump departed the series in 2015 to pursue his candidacy.

But after he said that immigrants are criminals during his campaign for president, NBC put out a statement saying that Trump would never be back on the air with them, regardless of what happened in the election.

"At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values," the network said in a statement. "Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump. To that end, the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants, which are part of a joint venture between NBC and Trump, will no longer air on NBC. In addition, as Mr. Trump has already indicated, he will not be participating in *The Celebrity Apprentice *on NBC. *Celebrity Apprentice* is licensed from Mark Burnett’s United Artists Media Group and that relationship will continue."
