They won Oscars only five years apart — give Amy Poehler a break.
The beloved comedian invited Gwyneth Paltrow onto her *Good Hang *podcast on Tuesday to discuss her new film *Marty Supreme*, her wellness empire Goop, and, unexpectedly, *Cold Mountain *— a movie she was not in.**
"*Cold Mountain*. How cold was the mountain?" Poehler joked in the midst of a speed round in which she pressed Paltrow for hot takes on some of her many celebrated roles.
"I wasn't in *Cold Mountain*!" Paltrow exclaimed.
Without missing a beat, the *SNL *alum leaned back on her improv training and said, "Oh, forget it then," while looking straight to the camera.**

After a round of laughter, Paltrow remarked with conciliatory flattery, "But thanks for thinking I'm Nicole Kidman. Bonus!"**
Poehler laughed again, but clearly embarrassed, endeavored to ask, "Wait, why did I think you were in *Cold Mountain*?"
Paltrow replied, "I don't know, but I'm so happy you did."
Poehler then kept the bit going, throwing out another of Kidman's roles as if it were Paltrow's own: "*Eyes Wide Shut*. What was it like working with your husband Tom Cruise?"**
Paltrow played along, smiling as she said, "Oh, he was hot."

Gwyneth Paltrow was fired from movie after Chris Martin divorce: 'A lot of harsh stuff'

Poehler can be forgiven for momentarily mixing up Paltrow, 53, and Kidman, 58. Beyond their similar ages, frames, and hairstyles, the actresses began working at a similar time. At least, Kidman's first American role after breaking out of the Australian industry came in 1990 (*Days of Thunder*), while Paltrow landed her first film role the year after in the musical *Shout*.
Though the pair have never appeared on screen together, they nearly starred opposite in Tom Hooper's period biopic *The Danish Girl*, but Kidman's part ultimately went to Eddie Redmayne, while Paltrow's went to Alicia Vikander.

Elsewhere during her conversation with Poehler, Paltrow opened up about the blowback she received after her breakup, or "conscious uncoupling," from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
"I was supposed to do a movie at one point, and it was right after the kind of 'conscious uncoupling' thing with Chris," Paltrow recalled, "and there was a lot of harsh stuff in the press, and I think the distributor was like, 'I think this might be too hot to touch.'"
